Attorney Bill Voss earned his JD from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and later founded The Voss Law Firm, P.C., in The Woodlands, Texas. As a practicing attorney, Bill Voss handles large loss insurance claim cases on behalf of policyholder clients. As part of its efforts to contribute to the community, the firm donates to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
The JDRF is the premier organization funding research to cure type 1 diabetes (T1D), and since 2006, it has been funding research towards the development of an artificial pancreas as part of its campaign to combat hypoglycemia. It invited the best mathematicians, endocrinologists, and engineers from some of the most prestigious research institutions in Europe and North America to form the Artificial Pancreas Consortium.
In September of 2016, after ten years of research and development, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the Medtronic MiniMed 670G hybrid closed loop system. This artificial pancreas is the first approved system to automate insulin doses to reduce sugar levels in the blood. The new system aims to bring people with T1D more comfort, especially by removing the need to monitor blood sugar levels in the middle of the night.
